What's Happening?
Founders Press, established in 1996 by Founders Ministries, has been dedicated to publishing resources that emphasize the historical and theological roots of Baptists, particularly their connection to the Protestant Reformation. The first publication,
'From the Protestant Reformation to the SBC' by Tom Ascol, was created to illustrate the historical lineage of Baptists and the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) from the Reformation. This work remains in print today, reflecting its ongoing relevance. Founders Press has since expanded its catalog to over a hundred titles, addressing a wide range of topics aimed at supporting pastors and churches.
Why It's Important?
The work of Founders Press underscores the enduring impact of the Protestant Reformation on modern religious practices and beliefs, particularly within the Baptist tradition. By tracing the roots of Baptists back to the Reformation, Founders Press provides a historical context that enriches the understanding of Baptist identity and theology. This focus on historical continuity helps reinforce the theological foundations of the Baptist faith, offering resources that are not only educational but also affirming for those within the denomination. The ongoing publication of such works highlights the importance of historical awareness in maintaining religious identity and continuity.
