William Martin Gaul, a retired architect and United States Naval Commander, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, at the age of 92. Gaul was born in Belleville, Illinois, and pursued his education at the University of Illinois. He served in the U.S.
Navy, achieving the rank of Commander, before transitioning to a career in architecture. Gaul was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Murphy Gaul, and is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A visitation and funeral mass are scheduled for June 29, 2026, at the Sheil Catholic Center in Evanston, Illinois.
