Poverello House in Fresno celebrated the graduation of 11 participants from its Culinary Workforce Development Program. The ceremony, held on June 29, 2026, was attended by Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer and Poverello House leadership. The program, supported
by the City of Fresno, provides individuals living in emergency shelters with paid culinary training. Participants gain hands-on experience in a commercial kitchen, complete Mental Health First Aid training, and earn ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification. The program aims to prepare participants for careers in food service and hospitality by building work history and developing job skills. Several graduates have already secured employment.
