What's Happening?
Premier Inn has opened a new 84-room hotel in Hastings Town Centre, located on Cornwallis Street. This development is part of Whitbread plc's strategy to expand its presence in areas with strong local
economies and seasonal leisure demand. The hotel, which includes both standard and 'Premier Plus' rooms, was constructed on a site that was previously an underutilized car park. The new facility features a ground-floor restaurant called The Social and aims to attract both local and visiting guests. The opening was attended by Helena Dollimore, Labour (Co-op) MP for Hastings and Rye, and marks Premier Inn's second location in Hastings.
Why It's Important?
The opening of this new Premier Inn hotel is significant for the local economy of Hastings, as it is expected to boost tourism and provide employment opportunities. By converting an underutilized car park into a hotel, Whitbread is contributing to urban regeneration and maximizing the use of available space. The hotel's strategic location and modern amenities are likely to attract a diverse range of guests, including tourists and business travelers. This expansion aligns with Premier Inn's broader strategy to strengthen its network in regions with high tourism potential.
