What's Happening?
Sindh Minister for Agriculture, Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar, has announced the Wheat Growers Support Policy, a significant initiative aimed at providing relief to wheat farmers in the region. The policy includes the establishment of monitoring and supervision committees at various levels to facilitate farmer registration. The registration process will utilize the Benazir Hari Card database, national identity cards, and land revenue records. The initiative targets 411,000 farmers owning between 1 to 25 acres of land, providing them with fertilizer and urea. Wheat cultivation is planned for 2.262 million acres across Sindh, with each farmer receiving Rs24,700 per acre. The Sindh government has allocated Rs. 58 billion for this program, with distribution of DAP fertilizer expected by November 2025 and urea by January 2026.
