What's Happening?
The 16th Annual Maritime Risk Symposium has announced its Student Research Poster Contest for 2026, inviting students worldwide to participate. Sponsored by the CCICADA Center at Rutgers University, the contest
will be held online, with winners presenting at the symposium in Houston, Texas. The event will focus on various maritime topics, including cybersecurity, border security, and harbor safety. Students are required to submit posters and video presentations by April 1, 2026. The symposium aims to bring together participants from government, academia, and industry to discuss threats and challenges to the Marine Transportation System.
Why It's Important?
The contest provides a platform for students to engage with critical maritime issues, fostering innovation and collaboration in the field. It offers students the opportunity to present their research to a diverse audience, potentially influencing future maritime policies and practices. The symposium itself serves as a crucial gathering for stakeholders to address pressing maritime risks, promoting dialogue and solutions. By involving students, the event encourages the next generation of maritime professionals to contribute to the industry's development and security.
What's Next?
Following the submission deadline, winners will be announced on April 15, 2026, and invited to present at the symposium in June. The event will feature discussions on maritime security and risk management, with selected posters displayed. Participants will have the chance to network with industry leaders and experts, potentially leading to further research opportunities and collaborations. The symposium will continue to serve as a key event for addressing maritime challenges and fostering partnerships across sectors.
