What's Happening?
The Warhawk-Lancer Scholarship program at North Chicago Community High School continues to provide significant support to students attending the College of Lake County (CLC). This initiative offers full tuition, a computer, books, a stipend for personal
expenses, and access to counseling services. The program has grown steadily, with 29 students from the Class of 2026 receiving scholarships. The scholarships are funded by contributions from local organizations and individuals, including the Faith Lutheran Church of Lake Forest and the Steans Family Foundation.
Why It's Important?
The Warhawk-Lancer Scholarship program plays a crucial role in making higher education accessible to students from North Chicago, many of whom are first-generation college attendees. By covering tuition and providing additional support, the program helps students pursue their academic and career goals without the burden of financial stress. This initiative not only benefits individual students but also contributes to the community's educational and economic development by fostering a more educated workforce.
