What's Happening?
In 2025, Bangladesh's Ready-Made Garment (RMG) industry achieved a significant milestone by securing 38 new LEED-certified green factories, marking the highest number in a single year. This achievement underscores Bangladesh's leadership in sustainable
apparel production. Of the newly certified factories, 22 received the prestigious LEED Platinum rating. This progress is attributed to long-term investments and strategic leadership within the industry, aligning with global demands for environmentally responsible manufacturing.
Why It's Important?
This development is crucial as it positions Bangladesh as a leader in sustainable manufacturing, setting a benchmark for global apparel production. The focus on green certifications reflects a shift towards environmentally responsible practices, which is increasingly demanded by international buyers and regulators. This trend could influence U.S. apparel importers and retailers to prioritize sustainability in their supply chains, potentially impacting market dynamics and consumer preferences in the U.S.
