The Ottawa Area Intermediate School District (OAISD) is expanding its free pre-kindergarten opportunities for three-year-olds through Michigan's Strong Beginnings Program. This initiative aims to provide high-quality early learning experiences to eligible
families in the region. The program, in partnership with the Tri-Cities Family YMCA in Grand Haven, offers developmentally appropriate, play-based learning to help children develop social-emotional, language, literacy, and early learning skills before kindergarten. The program includes small class sizes, certified early childhood educators, and family engagement supports. Families participating in the program save an average of $16,000 per child annually on early learning costs. Nearly 90% of families reported that the program helped them work additional hours, seek employment, improve health, or pursue education and career training.
