What's Happening?
The California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) has announced the launch of the CARES Foundation, a new 501(c)(3) entity aimed at consolidating and enhancing the philanthropic efforts of California REALTORS®. With an initial seed commitment of $1 million, CARES will unify four existing charitable programs: the Housing Affordability Fund, Disaster Relief Fund, Scholarship Foundation, and Education Foundation. These programs have collectively provided over $7 million in support to Californians, addressing affordable housing, disaster relief, educational opportunities, and real estate industry development. The foundation aims to amplify the impact of these initiatives and spotlight the community leadership of REALTORS® across California.
Why It's Important?
The establishment of the CARES Foundation is significant as it centralizes and strengthens the philanthropic activities of California REALTORS®, potentially increasing the effectiveness and reach of their charitable work. By consolidating resources and efforts, the foundation can better address critical issues such as housing affordability and disaster recovery, which are vital to the well-being of California communities. This initiative not only supports individuals and families in need but also enhances the reputation and community engagement of the real estate industry in the state.
What's Next?
The CARES Foundation is set to launch its first Annual Campaign in January 2026, following a preview at the REImagine!® Conference and Expo. The campaign aims to build on the initial $1 million contribution from C.A.R. and additional pledges from its leadership and members, totaling over $38,000 so far. The foundation will continue to seek support beyond the REALTOR® community to further expand its reach and impact. The inaugural Board of Directors, composed of REALTOR® leaders and philanthropic champions, will guide the foundation's vision and long-term strategy.
