The Minerals Council South Africa participated in a memorial service to honor five mineworkers who died in an underground mud-rush incident at Ekapa Minerals' mine in Kimberley, Northern Cape. The tragic event occurred on February 17, and the memorial service was
held on April 17. Minerals Council CEO Mzila Mthenjane, along with other senior colleagues, attended the service to pay respects and express condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased. The council emphasized its commitment to achieving zero harm in the mining sector and recognized the efforts of Mine Rescue Services in recovering the bodies of the miners.
