What's Happening?
Douglas Council has completed a project to replace 39 trees that were felled in a housing estate park for safety reasons. The trees, located between Ballanard Road and Baldwin Road in Willaston, were removed in February due to their vulnerability to high
winds. The removal sparked concerns among residents, who were also worried about a proposal to use the green space as a building compound for a future housing replacement project. The council has now finished creating a border with new trees to shield houses backing onto the park from Baldwin Road.
Why It's Important?
The completion of this project addresses safety concerns related to the vulnerability of the previous trees to high winds, which posed a risk to the community. By replacing the trees, Douglas Council is not only enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the area but also providing a natural barrier for residents. This move may alleviate some of the community's concerns regarding the use of the green space for future construction projects. The initiative reflects the council's commitment to maintaining safe and pleasant living environments, which is crucial for community well-being and property values.
