Sidney Lawrence Gordon, Sr., a respected veteran and musician, passed away on November 3, 2025, at the US Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. Born in Queens, New York, in 1948, Gordon served in the Vietnam War after being drafted into
the United States Army. He later pursued higher education, earning degrees in Business, Human Services, and Sociology. Gordon was known for his passion for music, performing as a 'Wedding Singer' and recording an original song. He also served as a lead singer for the 'Mighty Shades of Blue' band. Professionally, Gordon worked for the South Carolina Department of Corrections, retiring as a Captain. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and a large extended family. Funeral services are scheduled for November 8, 2025, at Pleasant Lane Baptist Church.
