PepsiCo has announced the launch of Simply NKD versions of its popular snack brands, Cheetos and Doritos, which will be available in stores starting December 1. These new versions will not contain artificial
flavors or dyes, including the bright orange color typically associated with these snacks. This move follows a push by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to eliminate synthetic food dyes from the national food supply. Although the Food and Drug Administration has requested the industry to stop using these dyes, it has not imposed a ban. PepsiCo's CEO of Foods U.S., Rachel Ferdinando, stated that the NKD line is an additive option rather than a replacement, introduced to meet consumer demand. The new line will include four flavors: Doritos Simply NKD Nacho Cheese, Doritos Simply NKD Cool Ranch, Cheetos Simply NKD Puffs, and Cheetos Simply NKD Flamin' Hot.
