Raising Star Africa, a non-governmental organization, organized its annual sporting event, 'Sport Fest,' in Lagos, Nigeria, to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event, themed 'Let's Play,' took place at the Abalti Stadium and
included participation from 10 public inclusive schools. Over 300 individuals, including 240 children and young persons with disabilities such as the deaf, blind, physically challenged, and neuro-divergent, engaged in various sports activities. The event featured a football match, relay races, basketball, and other games. The Ooni of Ife, represented at the event, expressed support for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of recognizing the abilities of persons with disabilities. Raising Star Africa's Operations Manager, Oyinkansola Babatunde, highlighted the organization's commitment to organizing inclusive sports to break societal barriers. The event concluded with Independent House winning the overall competition, and other awards were given to participants with intellectual and visual disabilities.
