What's Happening?
Samskip is advancing its commitment to sustainable maritime transport by integrating its SeaShuttle project into the European HyShip initiative. This collaboration aims to accelerate the development of liquid hydrogen infrastructure and support the commercial
deployment of zero-emission shipping. Samskip's two hydrogen-powered SeaShuttle vessels, currently under construction, will operate between Rotterdam and Oslo, forming one of Europe's first green shipping corridors. These vessels are designed for commercial operation and are expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 25,000 tonnes annually. The HyShip project involves a consortium of European maritime, energy, research, and regulatory partners working to develop the necessary technologies and infrastructure for scaling hydrogen-powered shipping across Europe.
