Egyptian publishing company Diwan has partnered with French publisher Gallimard's paperback imprint, Folio, to print and distribute French-language novels in Egypt. This collaboration aims to make French literary texts more accessible in Egypt by printing
them locally, thus reducing costs associated with shipping and currency conversion. The partnership is seen as a strategic move to tap into Egypt's niche market of French speakers, which includes three to four million people and numerous French schools. The initiative is supported by the French Ministry of Culture and involves a selection of 30 books ranging from classics to contemporary fiction.
