Nancy J. Placko, a long-time resident of Palatine, Illinois, passed away on November 18, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on October 23, 1937, in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood, Nancy was deeply rooted
in the city's Swedish community. She married Duane Placko in 1960 and together they raised four children. Nancy's life was marked by resilience, having faced health challenges in her later years, yet she remained more concerned about others than herself. Her early life was shaped by the loss of her parents, which instilled a sense of worry that persisted throughout her life. Despite these challenges, Nancy enjoyed life as a mother and was a lifelong Cubs fan. She is survived by her children and nine grandchildren. Her family plans to honor her memory with a Celebration of Life in the coming months.
