Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has informed the Rajya Sabha that BS-III vehicles, manufactured between 2005 and 2016, may require replacement of some rubber parts and gaskets when using E20 petrol. Studies conducted by various Indian automotive and research
organizations have found no major impact of E20 fuel on overall vehicle performance for BS-VI vehicles. However, for older BS-III vehicles, some rubber components may be affected. The government maintains that the loss in mileage due to E20 fuel depends on several factors, including driving habits and vehicle maintenance.
