What's Happening?
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is actively seeking volunteers to serve as campground hosts at several state parks and historic sites for the 2026 season. The locations in need of hosts include Sangchris Lake State Park in Sangamon and Christian
counties, Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site in Menard County, and Horseshoe Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area in Madison County. Campground hosts play a crucial role in welcoming visitors, managing arrivals and departures, issuing camping permits, and providing information about park facilities and local attractions. In exchange for their services, hosts receive free camping accommodations in their own RVs, motorhomes, or trailers at designated sites within the parks.
