What's Happening?
The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) has re-activated its Strategic National Implementation Process (SNIP) Testing Task Group. This group was initially formed to assist the healthcare industry in implementing HIPAA Versions 4010 and 5010
transactions. Its re-activation is prompted by the need to address current and upcoming regulatory changes, including the Claims Attachments and Electronic Signature Final Rule, the Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule, and the anticipated Version 8060 HIPAA transactions. The task group will focus on developing best practices for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) data exchange, refining testing procedures, and managing test data and partners. Its first major project involves reviewing and revising WEDI’s “Transaction Compliance and Certification” white paper, commonly known as the “WEDI testing white paper.” WEDI is actively seeking volunteers with expertise in data exchange and testing to join this initiative, including potential co-chairs.
