Kent Boughton, a former weather forecaster for Channel 8, passed away after a brief battle with cancer. Boughton, who began his broadcasting career as a disc jockey at age 15, spent much of his career in central Nebraska. He worked as a weather director
at KHAS-TV in Hastings and later as the chief forecaster at KHGI-TV in Kearney. Boughton was known for his live coverage of the June 3, 1980 tornado in Grand Island. He retired in 2023 but returned to part-time forecasting at KLKN-TV and later joined News Channel Nebraska. Boughton was inducted into the Nebraska Broadcaster’s Association Hall of Fame in 2024.
