Brazil's Environment Minister, João Paulo Capobianco, has voiced strong optimism that the Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF) will achieve its initial funding target of $10 billion this year. The TFFF, launched by Brazil at COP30 in the Amazon and
co-led by Norway, is designed as an innovative alternative to traditional grant-based forest finance. It aims to raise $125 billion in public and private capital, invest these funds in bond markets, and then use the annual returns to compensate countries that successfully preserve their forests. As of now, the TFFF has secured $7.3 billion from governments, with a remaining gap of $2.7 billion to reach its initial goal.
