What's Happening?
Battery Park City has entered into a $1.7 billion project labor agreement (PLA) with the Building and Construction Trades Council to advance a major resiliency project in New York City. This initiative,
delivered through a joint venture of Turner Construction and SPC Construction, marks the first use of a progressive design-build model in New York City. The project aims to enhance flood risk management, improve stormwater systems, and upgrade public spaces along the Battery Park City waterfront. The infrastructure is designed to protect against 2.5 feet of projected sea level rise and mitigate heavy rain impacts. The agreement also sets wage and safety standards and promotes access for Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Enterprises.
