The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has initiated a recall query into approximately 597,571 General Motors (GM) vehicles due to reports of engine failure. The vehicles in question
are equipped with the L87 6.2L V8 gas engine, which has been linked to engine damage or failure. This investigation follows a previous recall by GM in April of the previous year, which affected 721,000 vehicles globally, including nearly 600,000 in the United States. The NHTSA has received 36 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) alleging that the remedies provided in the prior recall were ineffective, leading to continued engine failures.
