What's Happening?
A new survey conducted by Balance@Work has revealed that 28% of women have considered leaving the workforce due to hormone-related symptoms such as those associated with menopause, perimenopause, and other hormone conditions. The survey, which included
over 5,500 respondents, highlights the significant impact these symptoms have on women's work performance and career decisions. Many women reported changes in work hours, flexibility, and career progression due to these symptoms. Despite the prevalence of these issues, there is a notable lack of employer awareness and resources to support affected employees. The survey also found that hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can significantly improve symptoms, with 92% of women on HRT reporting improvements.
Why It's Important?
The findings underscore the need for greater awareness and support for hormone health in the workplace. Hormone-related symptoms can significantly affect productivity, staff retention, and overall workplace culture. The lack of employer awareness and resources means that many women are not receiving the support they need, which can lead to decreased job satisfaction and increased turnover. Addressing these issues is not only important for improving the well-being of female employees but also for enhancing organizational performance and reducing costs associated with high turnover rates. The launch of the Balance@Work platform aims to provide employers with the tools and resources needed to better support employees dealing with hormone-related health issues.
