What's Happening?
Project Reach, in collaboration with NV Energy, is organizing a series of Senior Expo events in Las Vegas to assist seniors aged 62 and older with past-due utility bills. Eligible seniors can receive up to $300 to cover outstanding utility payments, including
those for services other than NV Energy. The initiative aims to provide financial relief to seniors facing economic challenges, ensuring they maintain essential services. The events are scheduled for later this month, offering a lifeline to those in need.
Why It's Important?
This initiative addresses the financial struggles faced by many seniors, particularly those on fixed incomes who may struggle to keep up with rising utility costs. By providing direct financial assistance, Project Reach helps ensure that vulnerable populations maintain access to essential services, such as electricity and gas. This program not only alleviates immediate financial burdens but also highlights the importance of community support systems in addressing the needs of aging populations. The collaboration between non-profit organizations and utility companies serves as a model for similar initiatives nationwide.
