What's Happening?
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has commissioned a feasibility study for a new submarine cable system, SCNX3, which aims to connect India with Singapore and major data centers across Southeast
Asia. The project, led by Malaysian subsea cable developer SubConnex, is designed to address connectivity constraints in the region. The SCNX3 cable will link Chennai to Singapore, with additional landing points in India, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. This initiative is expected to serve up to 1.85 billion people by enhancing regional capacity for data-heavy services, including artificial intelligence. U.S.-based APTelecom has been appointed to conduct the study, which aims to strengthen the investment case for the SCNX3 system.
