What's Happening?
Bishop's Pumpkin Farm is celebrating its 53rd harvest season, continuing a tradition that began in 1973. Founded by Bill and Sandy Bishop, the farm started as a small pumpkin stand and has grown into a family-run operation. Today, it is managed by their son Wayne Bishop and his family, along with 800 seasonal team members during pumpkin season. The farm aims to educate children about agriculture and the origins of their food.
Why It's Important?
Bishop's Pumpkin Farm plays a crucial role in agricultural education and community engagement. By providing a hands-on experience, the farm helps children and families understand the importance of agriculture in daily life. This educational aspect supports local farming initiatives and promotes awareness of sustainable practices. The farm's success also contributes to the local economy by attracting visitors and supporting seasonal employment.
