Lynchburg Regional Airport has been awarded an $8 million federal grant to expand its existing passenger terminal. This funding, announced by U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, is part of nearly $19 million in federal funding for airport infrastructure
projects across Virginia, provided through the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) for Fiscal Year 2026. The expansion aims to improve passenger flow and accessibility, while also increasing the airport’s capacity to accommodate future growth. Airport Director Cedric Simon stated that this investment is significant for both the airport and the entire region, enabling better service for current passengers and strategic investment for future demand.
