Jared C. Hirschowitz, a 41-year-old resident of Scotch Plains, New Jersey, was killed in a tragic accident during a storm on July 3. According to Scotch Plains Police Chief David Lavery, Hirschowitz was driving a silver 2023 Kia wagon eastbound on Raritan
Road when a large tree limb, dislodged by high winds, fell onto his vehicle. The impact caused the vehicle to veer off the road, strike a bush and a tree, and come to rest on a nearby lawn. A 40-year-old woman in the passenger seat sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
