Australia has announced a significant defense acquisition, purchasing advanced air-to-air missiles from the United States. The deal, valued at nearly $480 million, was revealed by Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marles during
the Pitch Black military exercises. The missiles, known as AIM-260 Joint Advanced Tactical Missiles (JATM), are part of the U.S. Foreign Military Sales program. Australia will be the first country outside the U.S. to use these missiles, which are designed to enhance long-range strike capabilities.
