The Ohio Department of Development's BroadbandOhio office has announced plans to accept proposals for a new project aimed at enhancing high-speed Internet access in northern Ohio. This initiative involves the construction of a middle-mile fiber network
along U.S. Route 30, stretching from Mansfield to Canton and Lima. The project, funded by a $20 million investment from Ohio's biennial budget, seeks to improve connectivity across 15 counties, benefiting educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and local governments. The infrastructure will include a Point of Presence in Mansfield, facilitating connections for various Internet service providers. The proposal submission period is open from December 1, 2025, to January 5, 2026, with a virtual bidders conference scheduled for December 8.
