What's Happening?
IHG Hotels & Resorts has entered into a strategic partnership with Cangio Tourist City Corporation to introduce four of its hotel brands to the Vinhomes Green Paradise Can Gio development in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This collaboration will see the development of over
1,000 rooms across four hotels: InterContinental Saigon Can Gio, Crowne Plaza Saigon Can Gio, Holiday Inn Express Saigon Can Gio, and Garner Hotel Saigon Can Gio. The InterContinental and Crowne Plaza hotels will cater to high-end and premium travelers, respectively, while the Holiday Inn Express and Garner hotels will offer more accessible options. This marks the debut of the Holiday Inn Express and Garner brands in Vietnam. The hotels are expected to open between 2028 and 2030, contributing to a 7,000-room accommodation ecosystem at the Vinhomes Green Paradise Can Gio. The development will also feature large-scale leisure and entertainment attractions, aiming to position Can Gio as a global tourism hub.
Why It's Important?
This partnership is significant as it underscores Vietnam's growing appeal as a global tourism destination. By introducing internationally recognized hotel brands, the development aims to attract both domestic and international travelers, boosting the local economy and tourism industry. The project aligns with Vietnam's ambition to become a leading global tourism destination, potentially increasing visitor numbers and enhancing the country's international profile. The collaboration also highlights the strategic importance of Vietnam in IHG's expansion plans, as the company continues to strengthen its presence in key destinations across the country.
What's Next?
The development of the Vinhomes Green Paradise Can Gio is expected to proceed with the construction of the hotels and associated leisure facilities. As the project progresses, it will likely attract further investment and interest from international tourism stakeholders. The completion of transport infrastructure, such as the Ben Thanh – Can Gio high-speed railway, will enhance connectivity and accessibility, further supporting the area's growth as a tourism hub. Stakeholders will be monitoring the project's impact on local communities and the environment, given its proximity to the UNESCO-recognized Can Gio Mangrove Biosphere Reserve.
