A crafting group known as Crafting Smiles, initially formed by Hong Kong nationals in Bracknell, UK, has expanded to over 15 regions across the country. The group began with five mothers meeting weekly
to create handmade items aimed at supporting mental wellbeing, care homes, schools, and hospitals. The initiative was inspired by the personal experience of one member, Amy, whose daughter underwent brain surgery. The group has grown to include more than 400 volunteers, focusing on meaningful community engagement and integration into British society. Their projects include donating crochet hats for babies needing extra care and creating handmade items like worry worms and Christmas ornaments. Currently, they are collaborating with The Lexicon shopping center and the Royal British Legion to support the annual Poppy Appeal, aiming to donate 1,000 handmade crochet poppies.
