Research indicates that various healthy dietary patterns, including plant-based diets, are associated with slower biological aging. A study by DZNE, published in Nature Communications, examined ten dietary patterns, such as Mediterranean, Nordic, and
plant-based diets, along with the DASH diet. All these patterns were linked to slower biological aging, with age-related changes in DNA serving as markers. The study, based on data from DZNE's Rhineland Study and confirmed by an independent study, found that over 70% of the affected biological pathways were shared across all diets, involving cell structure, signaling, and metabolism—processes central to aging and chronic disease.
