Jacqueline Ratliff, a recent graduate from Montana State University and native of Baltimore, Ohio, is participating in a deep-sea exploration mission aboard the EV Nautilus. The mission, organized by the Ocean Exploration Trust, aims to explore the Mariana
region, known for its ancient seafloor and volcanic activity. Ratliff, who grew up in landlocked Fairfield County, Ohio, is serving as a video systems intern on this 28-day expedition. The team is utilizing sonar technology and remotely operated vehicles to study seafloor formations and marine life over 12,000 feet below the ocean's surface. Ratliff has already encountered unique marine species, such as purple acorn worms and cusk eels, and is excited about the opportunity to document these discoveries.
