Carol Bailey Gardner, a beloved educator and community volunteer, passed away on June 10, 2026, in Silver Spring, Maryland. Known for her dedication to teaching and community service, Gardner's career included teaching in the Lewiston school system and working
as an office manager for Olympia Snowe. Her contributions extended to the Literacy Council of Montgomery County, where she taught adults English and assisted immigrants in pursuing U.S. citizenship. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for September 12 at the First Congregational Church of Dalton, Massachusetts, followed by a graveside gathering and a community event. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Classroom2Community, an organization she supported.
