What's Happening?
Graduates from Back Bay High School and Monte Vista Independent Study in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District celebrated their commencement ceremonies. Back Bay High's class of 2026, consisting of 78 students, gathered at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian
Church, where they were recognized for achievements such as earning the California State Seal of Civic Engagement and completing dual enrollment courses. Scholarships totaling $32,250 were awarded to 16 students. Meanwhile, Monte Vista Independent Study awarded diplomas to 24 students at the Norma Hertzog Community Center. These graduates, who completed their coursework remotely, are set to pursue further education or enter the workforce.
