What's Happening?
The Telegram Amiga project has released version 0.0.9, bringing native photo messaging and several other enhancements to five Amiga-family systems: AmigaOS 3.x, AmigaOS 4.x, MorphOS, AROS i386, and AROS x86_64. This update allows users to sign in with
a standard Telegram account, browse chats, exchange messages, and transfer files without relying on a Telegram bot. A key addition in version 0.0.9 is improved photo handling, enabling received photos to appear as blurred previews before progressively rendering the full image. Users can open a larger viewer, save received photos, and send JPEG files. For slower AmigaOS 3 systems, there's an option to disable inline images for a text-focused experience. The update also includes persistent photo and download settings, message forwarding, hidden-chat searching, and improvements to the full-screen console interface. File transfers are now non-blocking, maintaining interface responsiveness, and support files up to 125 MiB on 68k systems and 250 MiB on other supported targets, with progress displays, retry controls, and cancellation features.
