Indiana has launched a new civic publishing platform, HeroByApp™, aimed at ensuring source verification for local news and community updates. The launch event, held at the Julia M. Carson Government Center in Indianapolis, also honored Sergeant Major
Mary L. Aurtrey, a retired U.S. Army veteran, for her extensive public service. Aurtrey, who served 22 years in the military and 25 years as a federal civil servant, was recognized as the inaugural Hero of the Founding 50, a program that honors local leaders to promote the platform. The initiative addresses the growing issue of unverified and AI-generated content by requiring strict identity verification for all entities posting updates.
