What's Happening?
Granite Peak is set to host an Earth Day event on April 22, aimed at supporting local parks in Marathon County. The event, titled 'A Night to Support Marathon County Parks,' will take place at the Sundance Chalet and will feature outdoor storytelling,
raffles, and door prizes. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Wausau and Marathon County Parks, Recreation and Forestry Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing and sustaining local parks and outdoor spaces. Bill Bertram, president of the foundation, emphasized the importance of investing in parks to improve the quality of life for residents and attract visitors to the region.
Why It's Important?
The event underscores the community's commitment to preserving and enhancing local parks, which are vital for recreational activities and environmental conservation. By supporting the foundation, attendees contribute to the maintenance and development of outdoor spaces that offer residents and visitors opportunities for leisure and connection with nature. This initiative reflects broader efforts to prioritize environmental sustainability and community well-being, highlighting the role of local organizations in fostering a sense of community and environmental stewardship.
