What's Happening?
The McCauley Springs Fire, detected on June 24, 2026, in the Jemez Ranger District, has prompted evacuations in the community of Sierra de los Pinos, which is currently under 'Go' status. The fire, approximately 30 acres in size, is being fully suppressed
due to its high potential for spread. The Santa Fe Interagency Hotshot Crew, along with two additional Hotshot crews, two Type 1 helicopters, and an Air Tactical Group Supervisor, have been ordered to respond. Smoke from the fire is visible from Albuquerque, U.S. 550, Jemez Springs, and surrounding communities. The Northern New Mexico Type 3 Team, currently assigned to the Rio Fire, will take command of the McCauley Springs Fire shortly. Evacuation centers have been set up at Mountain Baptist Church in La Cueva and the Jemez Senior Center.
