A recent survey conducted by The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Foundation reveals that a significant portion of Boston's young residents, particularly those aged 20 to 30, are contemplating leaving the city due to escalating housing costs. The survey,
which included 600 participants from the Greater Boston area, found that 26% of respondents plan to move within the next five years. The high cost of rent and the difficulty of purchasing a home were cited as major factors influencing their decision. Boston's median asking rent is among the highest in the nation, and the real estate market is one of the least affordable, with median listing prices significantly above the national average. The survey also highlighted that newer residents, LGBTQ individuals, unemployed residents, students, and unmarried people are more likely to consider relocating.
