What's Happening?
The GRX Industry Awards are set to return in 2026, aiming to honor exceptional individuals, companies, and innovations that are propelling the mining and Mining Equipment, Technology, and Services (METS)
sector forward. Scheduled for May 6 in Perth, Western Australia, the awards will be part of the Global Resources Innovation Expo 2026 (GRX26). The event will highlight bold leadership, groundbreaking technologies, and significant individual contributions. Building on the success of the inaugural 2025 awards, which attracted over 800 industry leaders, the 2026 program will introduce a new Women in STEM Award. This award will recognize a woman who has shown outstanding leadership or advocacy, inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals. Other categories include the Craig Senger Excellence in Export Award, Outstanding Innovative METS Company Award, and the Champion of Innovation Award, among others.
Why It's Important?
The GRX Industry Awards play a crucial role in spotlighting innovation and leadership within the mining and METS sectors, which are vital to global economic development. By recognizing and rewarding excellence, the awards encourage continued innovation and improvement in operational performance, sustainability, and safety. This recognition can drive further investment and interest in the sector, fostering a competitive environment that benefits the industry as a whole. The introduction of the Women in STEM Award is particularly significant as it highlights the importance of diversity and inclusion in driving innovation and progress. By celebrating the achievements of women in STEM, the awards aim to inspire more women to pursue careers in these fields, addressing gender disparities and enriching the talent pool.
What's Next?
As the awards approach, industry-wide nominations are open, allowing companies and individuals to showcase their contributions to the sector. The event will bring together senior executives, METS innovators, and emerging leaders, providing a platform for networking and collaboration. The outcomes of the awards could influence future trends in the industry, as recognized innovations and leaders set benchmarks for others to follow. The focus on diversity and inclusion, particularly through the Women in STEM Award, may encourage more organizations to prioritize these values, potentially leading to a more equitable and innovative industry landscape.
