What's Happening?
The Director of Tourism Jammu, Dr. Vikas Gupta, visited the border villages of Pindi Charkan and Trewa in Tehsil Arnia to review the developmental needs under the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP). As the Nodal Officer, Dr. Gupta engaged with local stakeholders,
including former Panchayati Raj Institution members and residents, to gather feedback on the villages' developmental priorities. The visit included consultations with various departmental officers to draft a comprehensive development plan aimed at sustainable growth. Dr. Gupta stressed the importance of community involvement and inter-departmental coordination to achieve inclusive development. He assured the public of efforts to ensure balanced development through collaboration with the Rural Development Department and other agencies.
Why It's Important?
The Vibrant Village Programme aims to foster development in border villages, which are often underserved. By focusing on community participation and inter-departmental coordination, the program seeks to address the unique challenges faced by these areas, such as limited infrastructure and economic opportunities. The initiative is significant as it promotes inclusive growth, potentially reducing regional disparities and enhancing the quality of life for residents. Successful implementation could serve as a model for similar programs in other regions, highlighting the importance of local engagement in development projects.
