A former surgical technician at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey, has been charged with stealing $2.5 million worth of medical supplies. Marci M. Staub, 44, was charged with theft and receiving stolen property following a six-month investigation.
Staub allegedly impersonated a medical supply vendor and sold the stolen items to a wholesale company in South Carolina. The investigation began in October 2025 when the hospital reported missing Medtronic Infuse bone graft devices and other supplies. Despite a significant rise in orders from December 2024 to July 2025, the hospital's inventory did not match the usage, leading to the discovery of the theft. Staub was detained in December 2025 and terminated from her position. Surveillance footage and financial records revealed her involvement in the theft.
