What's Happening?
NASA, in collaboration with international partners, has launched the Sentinel-6B satellite aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The satellite, part of the Copernicus Sentinel-6 mission, will collect ocean and atmospheric data to improve hurricane forecasting,
climate monitoring, and maritime operations. Sentinel-6B will replace its predecessor, Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich, as the reference standard for global sea level data. The satellite's observations will enhance flood prediction models and aid in identifying ocean temperature patterns, supporting coastal infrastructure protection and shipping safety.
