What's Happening?
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has completed the self-enumeration process for the upcoming Census 2027, marking a significant step in India's first fully digital census. During his visit to Gorakhpur, the Chief Minister filled out the digital form at his residence
in the Gorakhnath Temple complex. He urged citizens to participate in the self-enumeration process, which is open until May 21. The digital census aims to collect accurate data to inform development policies and welfare schemes under the theme 'Our Census, Our Development.' The initiative is designed to ensure inclusive and comprehensive development by making every citizen a stakeholder in the nation's progress. The use of digital tools is expected to enhance the transparency, effectiveness, and speed of the census process.
Why It's Important?
The digital census represents a transformative approach to data collection in India, leveraging technology to improve accuracy and efficiency. By involving citizens in the self-enumeration process, the government aims to gather comprehensive data that will inform policy-making and resource allocation. This initiative is crucial for planning and implementing development programs that address the needs of all societal segments, particularly marginalized communities. The digital census also reflects a broader trend towards digital governance, which can lead to more transparent and accountable public administration. The success of this initiative could set a precedent for future data collection efforts, both in India and globally.
