The Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy (OICA) is advocating for the expansion of civics education across the United States. During the 2026 National Governors Association Summer Meeting in Oklahoma City, the OICA highlighted the importance of civics education through
programs like Oklahoma's Kid Governor® initiative. This program, which is part of a broader effort to engage young students in civic responsibilities, provides lesson plans for fifth-grade teachers to educate students about the role of elected officials, the electoral process, and civic duties.
